Attendance Strike

Until our demands are addressed, our families will host a recurring attendance strike.

Public school funding is based on Average Daily Attendance (ADA).

For every 100 students absent, the district loses approximately $8,000 per day.

We do not take this lightly. But if the district does not prioritize families, students and staff, we will not quietly accept their incompetence.

Our first strike will take place Friday, March 6.

Our second strike will take place Friday, March 13.

STAAR Testing Strike

If our demands are not met by March 30, 2026, we will organize a STAAR testing strike

Our children do not need STAAR.
The district needs STAAR.

Strike and protest on Friday, March 6

Through strength in numbers, a large group of families will be delaying student attendance until 10:30am on Friday, March 6 so that students will be marked absent. This collective action will prevent the district from receiving daily attendance funds for these students and aims to show how serious we are.

To participate:

  • Keep your child home or send them to school after 10:30am on Friday, March 6

  • Participate in a protest outside De Zavala Elementary from 7-10am on Friday, March 6
