Together, let’s protect our students, teachers, and community schools
A collective response to the proposed early closure of De Zavala Elementary
Don’t let FWISD fail us — again.
On February 18, families were notified that Fort Worth Independent School District had proposed the closure of De Zavala Elementary one year earlier than previously approved — just five days after the district’s school choice window closed on February 13.
Under the revised plan, students from Daggett Montessori would relocate to the De Zavala campus, leaving no space for current De Zavala students.
This decision affects more than one school. It impacts families, programs, staffing, enrollment planning, and student stability across our entire community.
We believe all students and families deserve:
Stability in their learning environment
Transparent planning and communication
Fair access to transfer options
Protection of strong academic programs
We are organizing to demand fair and commonsense treatment for students in our community.
Misguided decisions impact our children and our community.
We need your help.
De Zavala Elementary
Your voice can protect our students and teachers. Help us show Fort Worth ISD that our children deserve a thoughtful plan — not a rushed and disrespectful eviction notice.
Daggett Montessori
Your community deserves a stable, well-supported facility. Relocation should happen in a way that uplifts your students without creating instability for others.
Daggett Elementary
As discussions around dual language and student placement continue, thoughtful planning is essential to ensure programs are strong, properly staffed, and set up for long-term success.
Lily B. Clayton Elementary
Any shift in enrollment should come with transparent capacity planning so class sizes, resources, and campus culture remain protected.
